Extenda Retail delivers checkout platform with extended self-service capabilities to Auchan Retail France

  • Leading global grocery retailer Auchan Retail rolls out Extenda Retail checkout solutions to significantly improve the checkout experience. This technology will be rolled out in all Auchan Retail’s Hypermarkets, Supermarkets and Proximity stores in France

Sweden – Wednesday, 9th June 2021: Global leading grocery retailer Auchan Retail has selected Extenda Retail as its partner when rolling out Self Checkout solutions in France. The two-year implementation project started in December 2020, and will enable Auchan Retail to offer their customers a frictionless and independent shopping experience in their largest market.

The rollout further strengthens Auchan Retail’s position as an innovative industry leader within grocery retail. Furthermore, it demonstrates the company’s investment in using technology to create smooth, flexible and safe shopping experiences during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.

The transformation programme has an industrialised approach and will enable Auchan Retail to transform a large number stores in a very short time frame. The stores which have already transformed demonstrate a very simple use of checkout allowing the customer to really save time.

Extenda Retail’s market-leading POS and Checkout software is built on extensive expertise in the retail domain. The software allows forward-thinking retailers to offer frictionless in-store shopping experiences, something increasingly important in today’s shopping landscape when enabling social distancing is vital. The objective of this rollout, which takes place in Auchan Retail’s largest market (France), is to allow customers to shop and check out independently and minimise time spent physically inside the stores, while also enabling Auchan Retail’s in-store staff to invest time on the shop floor.

Ultimately the project will allow Auchan Retail to expand their offering to the wider population in France and create a truly frictionless and flexible shopping option for their customers.
