Extenda Retail Pharma Suite celebrates 10 years after dispensing its first prescription this Sunday, February 2.
The system, developed by Pharma Solutions, now part of the Extenda Retail Portfolio, was the first new prescription-handling system developed after the Swedish pharmacy monopoly ended in 2010. Since then, the system has continuously been updated to fulfill regulatory, technical and customer-usability needs.
Large department store Åhléns was the first new pharmacy chain to use the brand new Pharma Suite, and doors opened to pharmacy customers on February 2, 2010 at the Åhléns’ Skanstull store in Stockholm.
ICA, via ICA MAXI, soon followed in Åhlens’ footsteps and opened their Cura pharmacies in partnership with Pharma Solutions. Additionally, Medstop and Apotek Hjärtat switched over to Pharma Suite during 2010-2011.
Leading the way in pharmacy innovation, Pharma Suite client Apotek Hjärtat earned the prestigious award “The IT project of the year 2011” by the International Data Group (IDG), for successfully transferring their 260 pharmacies from the old ATS to the new Pharma Suite.
After the successful launch of the Pharma Suite system, a solution for dose production pharmacies or units named Pharma Suite Dose was introduced to the market in 2012. The next product was developed to meet the needs of the developing online market – Pharma Suite Online – a plug in which can be embedded in the e-commerce site of any pharmacy, enabling customers to order prescribed medication online.
The latest addition to the pharmacy portfolio is the Pharmacy Order Management System – a product taking care of orders from e-commerce or pharmacies. This system can be used in large remote pharmacies, alternatively in local pharmacies, as it provides fast delivery of ordered medication to customers.
Today Extenda Retail offers a full-service system to pharmacies, with options to pick individual products as needed.
