Axfood Unlocks Data-Driven Retail with Hii Cloud Platform

Sweden’s leading food retailer strengthens its partnership with Extenda Retail to modernize store and back-office systems, enabling agility, innovation, and scalable growth across nearly 700 locations.

Extenda Retail, has strengthened its partnership with Swedish food retail group Axfood as the retailer modernizes its store and back-office operations using the cloud-native Hii Retail platform.
As part of its long-term digital transformation strategy, Axfood is transitioning to Hii Retail to increase operational agility, improve efficiency, and accelerate innovation across its store network. The platform’s modular architecture enables a flexible, scalable ecosystem that supports continuous improvement and long-term competitiveness.

The solution has been live for several months following close collaboration between Axfood and Extenda Retail. Together, the teams audited legacy systems and defined a strategic implementation roadmap, focusing on core retail functions such as article, price, and promotion flows. The platform integrates seamlessly with existing ERP and back-office systems, supports third-party solutions, and provides store teams with modern tools for configuration, reporting, analytics, and end-of-day reconciliation.

Axfood has adopted a phased migration strategy, allowing individual components to be upgraded independently and aligned with its ERP roadmap. The first phase has already been successfully rolled out across nearly 700 stores, delivering minimal disruption and faster time-to-value. As part of this rollout, Axfood has implemented the Attendant App to enhance checkout operations.
